We are pleased to announce the official launch of AURELA (Autonomy and Multilateral Reconfigurations: EU–Latin America Relations), a four-year research partnership funded by the CAPES-COFECUB programme and developed by a consortium of Brazilian and French universities.
The launch event will take place on 29 June 2026 at Sciences Po, Paris, bringing together researchers, students, policy experts, and institutional partners to discuss the future of relations between the European Union and Latin America in an increasingly complex international environment.
AURELA seeks to advance research and policy debates on the transformations shaping interregional relations, focusing on three interconnected thematic areas:
Security and Emerging Technologies
Climate Change and Sustainable Development
Fundamental Rights and Democratic Values
The project brings together scholars from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Université de Tours, the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), Sciences Po, Sciences Po Saint-Germain-en-Laye, and Université Clermont Auvergne.
The launch event will provide an opportunity to present the project's objectives, discuss its research agenda, and foster dialogue among academics, policymakers, and members of civil society interested in the future of multilateral cooperation between Europe and Latin America.
We look forward to welcoming you to this important occasion and to beginning a new chapter of academic cooperation between Brazil and France!
